Discussion:
Why is it called season 6 part 1 and part 2 instead of season 6 and 7?
(too old to reply)

Can someone explain the season thing to me. Didn't the production
take a break between season 6 part 1 and 2? Why isn't it season 6 and
7?

David Chase claims that when he went to write the final season he had to
much material to fit into a normal 13 episode season so he had to make an
additional 8 episodes (now 9). But given the nonrelevant bullshit he spewed
out during the first half of the season I think it is more likely that Time
Warner stock was in the toilet and HBO forced him to write more episodes
even though this well had already run dry a while ago.

That's not to say that these last episodes won't be good. I think if last
night was any indication - they will be good. Plus he can finally start
closing the story up. I just mean that the first "half" looks like it was
completely unnecessary.

It looks that way *now*, but just you wait til T slips on the leather chaps
and joins a fire brigade. Then, suddenly, the audience will be in the know
and it'll all make sense.
