**Who killed him? And why? Things were settled and it was business
per
usual. So why kill Tony? **

Things were not settled. Who took over for Phil in NY? All Tony's
crew did was hit Phil. We have no idea what NY did next.

The most logical person: Butchie. Why suddenly sell out Phil?
Because he was a little rude? Phil was always rude. He sold him out
because he wanted to be boss.

Butchie was always instigating conflict. He was bloodthirsty and
opportunistic. His solution to everything was always violence. Now,
he has power, and opportunity.

What did Butchie say to Tony just before he kicked Coco's teeth out?

Butch is initially a capo in, but later becomes the underboss of the
Lupertazzi Crime Family. He attended Little Carmine Lupertazzi's
"meeting of minds" to try to resolve a dispute with the DiMeo crime
family in 2006. After the effort failed DeConcini was vocal in his
desire to move against Tony Soprano, DeConcini was critical of Albie
Cianflone's assertion that the attack showed that Tony had balls
saying he felt his bombing of one of Phil's properties was similar to
the 9/11 attacks and should be met with an effort to eradicate the
perpetrators. When Phil refused to consider killing a boss it was
Butch who suggested they move on someone else in Tony's family. Phil
soon suffered a myocardial infarction and Butch kept watch at the
hospital with others - he was confrontational when Tony visited Phil.
When Phil ordered a hit on Doc Santoro to take over the Lupertazzi
Family once and for all, it was Butch who oversaw the assassination
and behind the wheel of one of the getaway cars. Upon Phil's permanent
elevation to boss, Butch was made underboss of the family. He was
later present when CoCo was assaulted by Tony Soprano for having
insulted his daughter. Alongside Albie Cianflone, Butch appears to be
one of Phil's primary confidants and advisors. Butch appears to have
an old grudge against the Sopranos.

So you think Butch is the Krazee-Eye Killa? Maybe ... personally I
think the hit was sanctioned by Little Carmine, the one guy Tony
didn't consider might have it in for him, just because he told him
he's not interested in being the head guy in New York. Carmine knew
Tony's guys would take care of Phil, so all he had to do was wait for
that to happen and take out Tony (and maybe take out Butch
simultaneously.)

Still, your theory holds water. Maybe the reverse happened, and Butch
had Tony and Little Carmine taken out simultaneously - Butch had
spoken of the need to eliminate 'redundant management' the week
before.
